Say wha? 30 Paintings in 30 days challenge ???!! Are you cra cra?

Well yes, maybe a little. Just ask my husband and son, they’ll be the first to agree with that statement.

30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

The 30 Paintings in 30 days challenge is a challenge started by Leslie Saeta of Leslie Saeta Studio. I’ve actually participated in this challenge in the past, but just once. I guess the stress of it all finally wore off and I’m ready to put myself through the whole ordeal once again. Kinda like when you have a kid and you forget what it actually felt like, well I did at least – but I remember it hurt! However, look at what I got – my beautiful son! He is so worth the short amount of discomfort. Sort of like my last attempt at the challenge, difficult but worth the work. The last time I participated was way back in 2014. See those here if you like.

What’s the point of the 30 Paintings in 30 days challenge?

The whole point of the challenge is to get yourself back in the habit of painting everyday. Now I haven’t stopped painting, but I certainly haven’t painted as much as I wanted in the last few months. It’s kinda scary to look back and see what all I haven’t accomplished, and today is the last day of January… holy smokes! So I’m joining in with the challenge to give myself a goal and to help me to feel held accountable, too. Not that the Painting Police will come and pick me up if I don’t paint everyday, it’s more of a self motivation thing. I’ve signed up on Leslie’s website and I’m hoping to be able to accomplish a lot of painting.

I’m not expecting to get gallery worthy paintings each day, I may not even paint a whole new painting each day. I’ve been there done that and that was stressful. I put the stress on myself, but nonetheless, it was stressful. I do hope to foster the act of going into my studio each and every day to get more painting accomplished. You know what they say about habits, it takes 21 days to form one. It will help me get better by practicing more and more.

I’ve got a bunch of boards ready for paint and a theme for myself – tropicals. I’m dreaming of warmer days and am ready for gardening weather. Each day I’ll paint what I can and then post it here on my blog. I will also post it on Leslie’s blog where all the other artists will post their painting for the day. It’s fun to see what everyone paints. Wish me luck on creating this daily painting habit.

Oh by the way… did you seen that moon last night??

WOW, what a moon!

While I didn’t get to see the blood moon part, I was very impressed with the size and how bright it was. I don’t know how many more years we have to wait to see another Super Blue Blood Moon, but I hope I’m around to see it.

Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page in the menu at the top. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started creating more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is mystery.
