Happy Holidays! Christmas is almost here and I still don’t have my shopping finished just two days before the big day. My tree hasn’t even been up a week yet. Oh well, I’m not stressing it.
I’ve got a list of yummy food to make for our holiday feast on Christmas day. Funny how when you get a certain age, food becomes the thing we associate with a certain holiday. This Christmas for a special treat, I’m making my dad’s favorite Raspberry Relish. It’s my grandma’s recipe (his mother). I hope that brings a smile to his heart.
Last night, my son and his girlfriend made cookies. Asher’s favorite, Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. He asked for them, so of course I obliged even though oh man what a mess these are to make. At least I had their help but I did the messy part of trying to roll the “dough” into balls. I think I left two cookies worth on my fingers!
In case you don’t know, the dough is practically like brownie batter. However, they turned out magnificent! What a gorgeous cookie, too. Oh and did you know there was some sort of chocolate shortage going on? Chocolate is expensive!
Quickly, while we watched Polar Express I made my husbands request and that was No Bake Chocolate and Peanut Butter cookies. As pretty as they are, I’m not a fan.
This is the first year that I’ll have to share my son with another family on Christmas Eve. He’s growing up, almost grown (sorta – haha… in the eyes of the law let’s say). Staring at 18 in a few months. Jeesh. Where has the time gone? He’s going to spend time with his girlfriend’s family on Christmas Eve. It will be strange not having him here. I’m not quite ready for this.
I try and remember when I was his age. I don’t think I missed our Christmases at 17. It was too fun to miss. Christmas Eve was our big day with my mom’s side of the family. (the fun ones). Man, sometimes I think if I could just go back to those days. *sigh*
Well Happy Holidays to you and soon we celebrate a new year! Can you believe it?!
