Happy Independence Day! or Happy 4th of July as many of us call it! The fourth of July has always been a fun holiday for my family. My grandparents began a neighborhood parade that ended up at a local park in Evansville, Indiana. This was such great fun! We got to decorate our bicycles up with red, white and blue streamers and everyone had bells and noise makers. I remember my grandpa would have a speech after the parade in the park about patriotism or history and then we would all have a picnic together. You just don’t see neighbors doing that much anymore. But it sure was a great time and a beautiful memory for me.
This is an old one here, 1972. I was 2 so I’m the little squirt here. My mother is behind me, see us dressed alike? Too cute. This was my first parade. I wish I could find the photos of all the people walking and riding their bikes down the street, but it must be at my dad’s house. Oh well, next year.
Have a fun and safe 4th of July! I’m still proud to be an American!!
