Edit: I’m editing this post after the fact (and using the comment section to do so b/c my edit is not showing up – for me at least). Actually, it’s been nearly 11 hours since I posted my first Web Story here on my blog using the newest feature to roll out with the WordPress App update (v.16.8).
This new update offers the user to create web stories just like in Instagram. You can create a story by hitting the little pinkish-red button (in the app) and it gives you three selections to choose from, a blog post, a site page, or a story post.
If you select story post then you’ll see that it brings up your camera and you can either take a photo by clicking the button once or holding down the button and it will record video.
I’m not sure how long the video is, but as you can tell if you listen to my story it’s probably 20 second increments I’d guess. When I say listen to it, it’s because there’s apparently a glitch. I took video of me feeding my koi fish today for my story. However, it only shows you a black screen but you can hear me talk.
It’s a bit of a disappointment for me. I was ready to be posting all kinds of web stories this way. I guess I’ll have to wait until they get things figured out better, and so will you. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow using just still photos instead of video.
Therefore, I’m editing this post to not only append the story but also to apologize for it not working. Sorry! Stay tuned. Do give it a listen though, I think it’s relaxing to hear the birds, the waterfall and my wind chimes all layered underneath my babbling.
