I’ve fallen way behind on keeping up with sharing what I’m working on during this quarantine. But I have got three new expressionistic abstraction paintings finished and waiting for varnish. These paintings, I feel, are so very passionate, vivid and moving in a new direction for me.
While there are three completed, I do have one more canvas this size that I’m saving to add to the collection. Odd numbers are always something I aim for so I’ll be adding a fifth along with the fourth – when and if that happens. Art supplies hasn’t been the easiest to get a hold of lately so I’m just using what I’ve got in the studio.
So below is how these paintings started. Well actually that’s not entirely true all paintings begin in my mind but that might be getting a little too deep, hah ha. I’ve squirted out gesso and paint to get a nice non white under painting going.
And this is what I ended up and let dry on a station in my art studio.
Here I am standing over my paintings deciding what next. It may not look like I’m doing much, but there is a lot going on actually.
These paintings were definitely impacted by my feelings and music selection at the time. I think they exude wild passion and excitement. Emotions rule my abstract paintings it seems. Whatever I’m experiencing in my life at the moment shows up on my canvas. Sometimes I’m the only one that recognizes that, but that’s okay. Sometimes I need them to stay private.
This photo below was taken on my studio walls late at night so the colors are actually a little brighter in real life than seen here, mainly the blue. It’s a nice Prussian blue which is one of my favorite colors. The orange is a little more clear in person, it looks a tad muddy in the photo but it’s not.
I need to set up a nice photo shoot area in my studio, you know with the fancy lights. I wish I had a light filled studio, but I don’t… maybe someday.
I’m glad I’ve finally got this on my blog because I have a lot more to share. Trying to keep things in order. To see my art in more real time, follow me on Instagram and on my Facebook Page. Of course I’d love for you to join me email list too. If you’re interested just sign up with the link below.
Oh I almost forgot to share the titles. I love to title my paintings. L-R “I’m Open Wide”, “Come on Like a Drug” and “Just Can’t Get Enough”. These are all under the “Temptation Waits” collection. All three are 18″x24″ on 1.5″ gallery wrapped canvas, painted on the sides.
Hopefully soon these paintings will be listed here on my website. If you’re interested in them before that, just contact me.
Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.
If you would like to keep up with what I’m doing, I have a newsletter e-mailed about once a month that gives you special status for invitations, birthday greeting and more. I’d love for you to add your email to my Friends and Collectors list!
I love that ‘there’s a lot going on’ photo of you studying the work in progress.
Ha ha… thanks Lisa! I do a lot of stopping and stepping back to study what I’ve added or taken away. Trying not to get too far ahead of the process but yet keeping a few steps in mind. It’s a dance, as I’m sure so is writing for you. I hope you and your family are doing well. Spring has sprung full force here, has it in the mountains where you are?
Love the direction you’re going in! ❤️
Thank you Lori!! I do too. I’m having lots of fun with these abstracts.
