I’m participating in a 30 paintings in 30 days challenge and I’m happy to say I’ve accomplished another painting for today. Today’s painting is of a couple of New Harmony roosters pecking around a gravel driveway in the little town I live near. A friend of mine owns a landscaping business and one of the homes he takes care of have these gorgeous roosters. Who wouldn’t want to paint them? I love the quizzical look on the rooster on the right while the other one searching for a bite is oblivious.
Nice! Reminds me of my three roosters that are looking for a new home.
Congrats on day two, very inspiring : )

Thanks Tina! You’re not doing the chicken thing anymore? Do you know what these kind are called?
I still have my chickens, 18 hens and too many roosters. I had 5 boys all around 6 months old which is like an overly amourus 15 year old human boy. It was just too much for the girls. They were laying down and refusing to get up. One had actually wasted away to nothing because she was afraid to get down off her roost to eat. They can’t move without the boys ganging up on them. I found a home for two boys and for now the other three are staying in a big dog crate inside the coop. It isn’t pretty. They aren’t hurting each other but they mount each other constantly. They are so much bigger than the hens, this way they are picking on someone their own size.
I tell you, you get an education if you have chickens!
Oh my goodness that is hilarious. I can see it now. I love the way you compare the roosters to a young human boy… you are too funny Tina!
Nice,Jaime!
Thanks Kathy! 🙂
