“Rose Mystique” is an abstract rose painting of vibrant red, magenta, pink, blue, purple and green. The colors have given it mysterious nooks and crannies.
Here are some photos I took during the transition.
This painting started out with a very different feeling from the one it has now. Washes of orange with yellow suns and finger printed red rays were the initial subject. Then, it changed and I no longer saw the suns with their outpouring rays of warmth. It shifted into an earthier, more mysterious painting. The suns became an abstract rose here and there and then all over.
I followed the path I was meant to take by adding more and more layers of depth with indigo and violet. Red still wanted to dominate the background, so I let it.
Thoughts of gardens and happy color swirled through me as I added more paint to match my imagination of this secret abstract and wild garden.
I wrote script into the paint, though now I don’t recall the exact words of I was communicating with the painting. It readily accepted the words and they are still somewhat visible in-between the layers and under a rose or two.
Words of joy and inspiration are sometimes written in my paintings. An artist knows the painting absorbs their essence as we paint. I pour happiness in the painting by scraping in words with the end of my brush. I only want to infuse good karma into my paintings for their new owners.
My garden is a constant muse for me and it manifests itself in many ways through my art. If you’d like to see my gardens that I go on and on about, just take a look around on my blog and use the keyword “garden” or “Studio Gardens” for the gardens in front of my art studio
