It’s 2024 and I’m here for the new year, new fun party! The new year is off to a great start. I hope it is for you as well.
I’ve finished a commission painting that I’ll share soon and I’m working on a series of loose, abstracted flowers that are a bit of a new direction for me.
But today, I want to share my New Year’s Eve party fun photos. Haha. When you get to my age, a fun party means lots of good food, good friends and games. We’ve been on a Mexican Train kick for a couple of years now and it’s great because it allows a lot of people to join in.
Before the games, we were of course taking photos. I’m glad I’ve always been a picture taker. Ever since my dad got me a camera in High School, I’ve chronicled my life and the life of friends with photos. I’m not a very good photographer, but I love capturing memories.
Below is my friend Jody. We’ve been friends since Freshman year of high school! She’s probably my oldest friend that I’m still in contact with. I love her dearly. I’ve gotten her into ghost hunting with me and she ran with it! Now she goes more than I do.
Here’s Robin, another dearly loved long time friend. We’ve been friends since the mid 1990’s. We were trying to figure out how many years but it was too loud that night. It’s been a long time, we agreed upon that. We always try to celebrate the new year together.
Robin and I were friends first and then several years into it started going ghost hunting together. Then we formed a friends ghost group called Hot Flash Honey’s. You can read about some of our paranormal investigations here on my blog. Come follow us, you can see photos and posts from the members on our public Facebook Group. It’s always a lot of fun.
The three of us all have April birthdays. So we always try to have a birthday investigation during the month of April. This year, we’re going to Octagon Hall in Franklin Kentucky. Stay tuned.
Back to our party. We had 12 people and we all got to play. Well, we split it up into 2 sets, the girls played on one end of the table and the guys played on the other. It was very loud. The guys are all the time joking around and throwing out the insults which make for a fun time.
Before we played Mexican Train we made pizza. We bought 4 big take and bake pizzas. We had plenty to munch on before the pizzas were ready, but to speed things up Shelby our host was baking two at a time. Well, you many know that can cause a longer baking time. So she got the pizzas out and someone complained that it wasn’t done, so she put it on the bottom of the oven 😬.
She didn’t know things could catch on fire down there. Well, long story short it caught fire. haha… Like huge flames shooting out of the oven when she opened it! The smoke alarms were going off and the house filled with smoke. We had to open all of the windows and get a cross breeze going and it was gone pretty fast. But her security system alerted the Fire Department. Luckily, they called to confirm a fire, and she told them false alarm. I told her it’s not a party until the Fire Department is called. We can all laugh about it. I don’t think it hurt anything in her oven. We were able to cook the remaining pizzas and they were delicious!
The more they drank, the louder they got! Of course that’s how parties go. My son and his girlfriend joined us as well, which was fun. You know he’s getting at the age to where I never know what he’s going to want to do.
I was able to get a photo of the three of us below.
Until next time, Happy New Year!
