Majesty Palm painting titled Moody Majesty

Here we go! Day 1 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge and my first one is a Majesty Palm. 8″x10″ acrylic on panel.

I gave myself a theme of “Tropical” for this challenge. I love the look of a majesty palm, and I thought this looked pretty tropical to me so here she is. This plant lived on my deck all summer and now resides in the greenhouse. She and I both will be happy to have her return to the deck for summer vacation! I’ve titled this painting “Moody Majesty”. It has vibrant, deep colors of blue and royal violet against the bright green leaves.

I wish I could go someplace tropical to get some new reference photos, but I can’t so I’ll have to rely on my extensive collection of photos I’ve taken of my plants as well as the plants I’ve photographed while traveling.

I have this painting along with the others Click to see Moody Majesty listed in my shop here. Wouldn’t she look great in your home?

Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page in the menu at the top. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started creating more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is mystery.
