Recently, I’ve had flowers on my easel. I’ve been painting red tulips and poppies plus other stuff but today I’ll just share the progression of the red tulips.
First, I’d to thank anyone who has sent good vibes or prayers for my surgery. It was last Friday and this is Monday. The surgery went well and I’m feeling well enough to sit up and write this post, so I guess it wasn’t all that bad. If you weren’t aware, I had to get a total hysterectomy. bleh.
I’m doing so well that I look at all the weeds growing in my gardens that I didn’t get a chance to pull before the surgery and I’m tempted to get out there and yank some. But I know better. Even though I feel okay, I’m sore and bending over a lot probably wouldn’t be very good on my stitches and I sure don’t want to have to go back in to have anything fixed. So, for now I just look… and type. Maybe in a week or two. I’m sure it’ll be a jungle by then.
These tulips look so easy going to me. The long drooping stems just casually growing. I remember my mom planting a bunch of beautiful tulips in a great big pot under her deck. I don’t know if it was that they didn’t get quite enough sun under there or what, but they were droopy like this, too. But her and I loved the effect. It added to the romantic feel, we thought.
The red tulips here in my gardens have come and gone. They are the only tulips that last over the years it seems. I’ve planted others but they never seem to come back and if they do, they rarely bloom. The red ones I have stand tall and proud.
I am finished with the painting now, I just need to sign it and varnish. This painting is available as of now if you’re interested. It’s a 9″x12″ on a 5/8 canvas. It can be easily framed if you wish but the sides are painted as well so it could just be hung on the wall right away. I might get around to listing in my shop a little later. I’m still trying to work on my newly revised website when I have time and it’s getting close. But there are a few barriers that kinda freak me out when making it live. Fingers crossed that everything works the way it’s supposed to.

Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.
