Print of “Sabrina”, which is the title of this sugar skull Sabrina painting. The first of an upcoming series of sugar skulls. The original painting has sold.

Sabrina is her name. She’s an Aquarius so she’s obviously a free spirited soul. Of course she’s got that nonconformist attitude going for her as well as that free flowing hair with flowers in it. She’s wise beyond her years and a bit dreamy but don’t let that scare you off. Sabrina is all about making this world a more beautiful and peaceful place but in her free time she likes to listen to music and daydream. She’s a dog person, she’s got a mutt named Shroom and a chihuahua named CoCo. Sabrina is the first of a sugar skull series I’m starting to paint. Look for more of Sabrina’s sisters to come. They look fabulous matted and framed in your space.

A Sugar Skull represents a departed soul in Mexican culture. They are traditionally left at the gravestone of the respected deceased or the ofrenda (an altar) to honor the return of a particular spirit and have their name written across the forehead. I love the way in which this culture receives death by celebrating it. Sugar Skulls are a very important part of Día de Muertos which is known as Day of the Dead. It’s a day when family spend quality time together gathered around the tombstones of relatives who had passed on.

I wrote a little bit about Sabrina here on the blog.

Important Print Information:

Sabrina – Sugar Skull

This listing is for a Fine Art Print or an Economy Print – You select your choice of sizes.

• All prints include a white 1″ external border for easier framing. Ultimately, I do recommend using your local framer, but if you want to frame it yourself you certainly can. You will need to trim the paper to fit your frame, there are trim marks to make this easy or use your frame glass as a template. I suggest framing your print to protect it and ensure your enjoyment for years to come.

• Economy Prints are made using an electrostatic digital imaging process. They include a generous white border which mimics a mat. Economy prints should bring you many years of brightness and pleasure if you make sure to keep the art out of the sun or any bright light. For this reason, it is best to frame them under glass or plexiglass for protection and longevity.

• This listing does not include a frame.
