Still Waters Run Deep is a tropical leaf painting with a dragonfly whizzing around.

Whenever I travel to Florida, I am always so inspired by the beautiful swampland in the south. The Spanish moss dripping from the trees and all the humid lushness just makes me want to paint it all. I think it is so beautiful and a recent trip to Hilton Head Island with all the manicured yet wild looking bushes and vegetation made me want to create a leaf painting.

All that drippy goodness of the south inspired me to paint this fantasy landscape leaf painting. I love the finger like look of the philodendron leaves and I intentionally painted these leaves extra long. After I was finished, I decided to add a little life to the painting by adding a purple dragonfly. His wings have an iridescent paint which add the tiniest bit of whimsy.

Rich greens and vibrant lime green add to the tropical quality. There are rich maroons and even purple in the leaves as well.

Original 14″x18″ tropical leaf painting on canvas and ready to hang, via wire.
