This last Friday, I hung 9 tropical paintings up for my summer exhibit at Alexandrian Public Library. I figured August would be a great month to display that tropical series called “Vibrancy of the Tropics”.
They look pretty great hanging up there in hall. As soon as you walk in the library you’re hit with these pops of color. I think they’ve added more spot lights which really makes them sizzle. I know they’ve recently updated the building and it’s really cool looking.
I had my 13 year old son, Asher, with me (not willingly I might add) and asked him to take a few photos as I hung the art exhibit. You should see the photos he took, they’re comical. Of course there’s some not very flattering ones of me, but he also took a couple hilarious selfies but would just die if I posted them. I’ll have to keep them as extortion material later… bahahaha
See that second painting from the left? I ended up replacing it because I noticed it stuck out because it wasn’t framed. Good thing I took one extra painting.
Here’s the painting I replaced that second painting with. It’s my philodendron which I love titled “Frond Memories”. I have three or four potted philodendrons in my home but they’re on their summer vacation right now and loving it. Tropical plants and flowers are some of my favorite subjects to paint.
I made a quick 31 second video of my summer exhibit there. My kid was ready to leave, so I was trying to hurry and he was talking while I was trying to talk during my video and you’ll hear me laugh when he says “Bye!” trying to get me to leave. Life with a 13 year old.
Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.
If you would like to keep up with what I’m doing, I have a newsletter e-mailed about once a month that gives you special status for invitations, birthday greeting and more. I’d love for you to add your email to my Friends and Collectors list!
You’re so right about the pops of color! I would love to walk into a library and see that. The wall behind the prints was perfect because it allowed the prints to shine without distracting from them, and also emphasized the color. What a good idea to take that set of prints. And now…I do believe I need to see the other photos your son took…
That wall is perfect for colorful paintings. My son did pretty well at those photos but I can’t get him interested in photography, sadly. Maybe it’s because I’m the one suggesting it and well he’s a 13 year old who knows everything there is to know about life or anything else, just ask him. *insert eye roll*
I’ll have to go back and read my post because you keep mentioning prints, but these are original paintings I’m hanging. Of course I do have prints of most! 😉
