Well it’s a few days late, but I’ve just listed Underneath as my Painting Offer for April. I feel I have a decent excuse though, the tree incident saga continues. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, this post explains everything. With lots of photos as well.
Underneath is a 12″ x 9″ acrylic/mixed media painting on watercolor paper mounted on board. The photo shows the painting framed, but the frame is not included for the painting offer. If you’ve had your eye on this painting, now is a perfect time to add it to your collection.
This painting is favorite of mine. In fact, it was used for my business cards and other promotional materials. I just love the vibrant complimentary colors I used, orange and purple. These are favorite colors for me to use in my garden as well. They pop up frequently, especially orange zinnias and purple Angelonia and as in this photo, purple clematis and orange day lilies.
There is another version of this painting underneath the one you see. If you would like to see it click here to read a blog post about it and why I painted over it.
Mother Nature is my constant muse and this painting clearly shows my love of trees and leaves. Trees and leaves show up often in my paintings and are a favorite of mine to paint. I constantly scour the countryside as I drive looking at the “bones” of trees and I make mental notes of special trees I see and how they grow or lean or spread.
I frequently stop on the side of the road and snap photos for reference. Winter and early spring are the best times because that’s when I can really see the skeletal part of the tree. There are definitely favorites on my regular routes to town.
