We recently bought new eBikes and they are so much fun! I feel like a kid again. We’re riding all over the place around us in Posey County and we’re racking up the miles fast. eBikes are electric bikes in case you didn’t know.
In my last post, I mentioned that my husband Daryl had just retired in April. He retired early, he’s 56. Hopefully, we can enjoy all the benefits of retirement for a long time. Part of that is to do things together. I’m also finding as I age that movement is key to not feeling like the Crypt Keeper. Remember that show Tales from the Crypt? Hahaha… I can hear him laughing now.
Now, when I say retired I don’t necessarily mean I’m retired. I’m still painting and selling my work. Although, I will say with all this fun we’re having doing things like riding the eBikes it kinda feels like retirement. I’ve also turned off the alarm. There’s just no greater luxury in life than sleeping until you wake up in my book.
We bought two identical electric bikes, Aventon 2 series. They have the big tire on them so you can drive through trails, dirt, sand and grass with no problem. I initially thought I wanted a more traditional looking thinner tire but after watching a few reviews by smaller women I was convinced I could handle the fat tire.
And the reviews were right! It’s great! I think I actually have more stability on the bike with the fat tire than I would with the skinny one.
There’s a locally owned shop about 40 minutes from us in Darmstadt that sells and services the eBikes. They’re a real nice couple and the shop is called Ebike-Escapes. Holly and Dan Adams have been selling the bikes for a few years now, since around 2020 I think. They got us set up.
We bought our bikes and accessories from them. So far, we’ve bought helmets, a bike alarm, two cushy seats (to replace the young person seat hah!) a phone holder, a bag that has a cooler in it and a thing to raise the handlebars for Daryl. We’re decked out!
You don’t see it in the photos because they were sold out when we purchased the bikes, but we also bought the Sena Smart Communications Helmets. We’ve since gotten them and they are fantastic. So lightweight I don’t even feel it and being able to talk back and forth without having to raise my voice is awesome.
Daryl and my son use the Sena communication thing in their dirt bike helmets to talk to one another so we knew instantly that we wanted those. They reach pretty far and hold a charge for a long time.
So, the new adventure begins! I think we’ll get a lot of use out of the bikes. We’re loving them. We’ve already rode them several times and it’s something we look forward to doing, usually after dinner. On Mother’s Day we rode 14.4 miles! It’s so fun. I highly recommend them.
Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.
