WSI - the Watercolor Society logo in black and white

Earlier in the month, I applied for a membership with the Watercolor Society of Indiana. Mostly, I paint with acrylic paints but surprisingly they accept all water medias. Just this week I got a letter welcoming me as a new member.

I’m hopeful that with this new membership I’ll get new opportunities at exhibits and shows and with that, chances for people to see my art who might not otherwise.

In a couple weeks I’ll have my first experience with the society. I don’t really know what to call them other than a society, although I think they go by WSI so I’ll call them that. I’ll have my first meeting and I’m going up there with a friend of mine, Ron, who is the one that asked me to consider to join.

He’s recruited a few others and we’ll all gang up in his car, well 3 or 4 of us at least, and head up to Indianapolis which is a few hours north of us. Hanging out with a bunch of other artists is going to be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to our conversations we’re going to have.

In other news, today marked the first end to my new art auction I’m calling Painting Offers. I talked about it a couple weeks ago here. There weren’t any takers for this painting that I was offering up but that isn’t going to stop me from doing it again. I’ll just put the painting back in my shop and in April I’ll have a different painting I’ll be offering up.

It is a little disheartening to not have any bidders but I realize that not many people saw it. I have analytics on my page where I can see how many people view the pages on my site and when I started to think about it, an auction really only works if there’s a lot of interest.

Really though, I’m doing the auction as a way to thank my supporters and let them have an opportunity at a painting at a really great price. This painting must’ve just not resonated with the people that saw it. I get that, not everything I paint is going to appeal to everyone. I kinda like having a little bit of a niche style and realize my fantasy, surrealistic paintings aren’t for everyone. My plants and flower paintings seem to go over well with a lot of people though.

Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.

If you would like to keep up with what I’m doing, I have a newsletter e-mailed about once a month that gives you special status for invitations, birthday greeting and more. I’d love for you to add your email to my Friends and Collectors list!
