The day after the summer solstice, I had my very first Open Studio and Garden Tour of Studio Gardens. That’s the garden just outside of my art studio.

If you read my last blog post, then you know I spent a lot of time trying to get it up to snuff for my visitors. I think it went really well. There was a pretty good turnout considering the weather was humid and in the mid 90’s. The heat index was about 103 degrees.

I sold some art and had a great time. Sharing my gardens is one of my favorite things to do. There’s no better muse for me than my gardens. I not only paint from nature, I paint from within it.

My friend and collector Lisa helped me tremendously. She showed up an hour and a half early and helped me take all my art outside and then she basically designed the layout of all the art. That’s definitely her niche. She’s so creative that way.

I had a drawing for a gift basket that I put together. In the basket, which was more of a container than a basket, was a note card set with my smoky summer vegetables collection, a Gratitude Journal, a matted print of Sultry Bamboo Forest and a 4″x4″ original painting on a chunky canvas.

I’m happy to announce the winner was the husband of a longtime collector of my work. His wife, my collector, was happy to meet me in town to deliver the winnings.

After the Open Studio and Garden Tour was over and Lisa helped me put everything back inside I finally got to sit down and rest. Let me tell you, it felt so good. I was amped up from the excitement but also exhausted.

I just sat there reflecting on the day and the people that were so generous with their time to visit. Studio Gardens was still buzzing with butterflies, dragonflies and busy bees. The sound of the water feature in the koi pond helped settle my frazzled self. It felt really good. I felt accomplished.

If you’re interested in getting a quick tour of the garden with my art in it, see the video below that Lisa took (or click here if you don’t see it on mobile). It’s like you’re there with us. I couldn’t have asked for a better studio assistant! She’s the best. Thank you Lisa!

Out of curiosity, would you ever attend an event like the one I just hosted? If you’re within reasonable driving distance of me and would like to get an invitation to my next one, just make sure you’re on my email list. Leave me a comment to let me know what you think about my event.

Learn more about me on the ‘About’ page under the additional links menu. I’m an artist – a painter mostly and an avid gardener. I paint a variety of subjects including birds, koi fish, my gardens, ponds and flowers as well as anything having to do with nature especially trees and tropical scenes. I also enjoy painting abstracts and have started created more and more of them. My most favorite thing to try to achieve in my painting is is mystery and telling mystical stories.

If you would like to keep up with what I’m doing, I have a newsletter e-mailed about once a month that gives you special status for invitations, birthday greeting and more. I’d love for you to add your email to my Friends and Collectors list!
