Recently I was asked to paint a special painting of a double rainbow over a friend’s home for a collector. She and a bunch of her friends had stayed there on vacation. They call themselves the Eighties Ladies, I love it.
The home was in Puget Sound in Washington state. The high school friends stayed there together and got to witness a rainbow form right before their eyes. Then it became a double rainbow. The sky was intensely cloudy and moody with beautiful pinks, blues and grays.
Amazing.
The stay and the rainbow was something they’ll never forget. So, they had the idea to have the moment forever captured in a painting.
My collector said I have a girl and that’s when she contacted me. I love it that she thought of me as her artist, that really felt good.
The homeowner, who was also their friend, had a special heart shaped piece of metal art attached to the deck railing and it meant a lot to her. My collector wanted to incorporate that metal heart into the painting somehow and the end of the rainbow was a perfect spot.
They came up with an idea for the rainbow to have the house be on one end of the rainbow and the heart on the other end of a rainbow. I was more than happy to paint their vision. Ultimately, I think it turned out beautifully. Fittingly, I call it the Double Rainbow House.
If you’ve ever had a vision for a painting contact me and we can bring it to fruition. I have a commission details page here.
