Winter Solstice is here and with it brings a chilly shortest day and longest night of the year. For me, this Solstice means looking ahead towards bright and happy days to come. I know I have a period of rest now. A hibernation of sorts and I’m going to relish it.

It feels magical. There’s something different about knowing it’s the longest night of the year, the shortest of daylight. Deep reflections of this past year and the promise of growth ahead fills my mind. With each year older, I think about things so differently now. The longer days of sunlight to come is welcome.

As I write this, the long shadows are streaming in and I can see the movement of water reflected from the lake onto the ceiling, it’s quite beautiful. Cats are snoozing in the last remaining light and the house is quiet, as everyone but me is out right now.

I’m listening to the birds squawking at each other, I’ve just filled their feeder and put up another suet cake. I wonder if they know the change of light, the turning of the crank, the march of time… I wonder if they are aware of it.

Okay, enough deep thoughts for now.

2026 Art Calendars

Last but not least, I’m excited to share that I’ve got my art calendars ready for your home or office. My art calendars are functional art that you live with daily. I believe that everything in our home should bring us joy in some way. Looking at art and happy colors is a great way to not only start out a new year, but to begin each day with.

Once again this year, I’ve got two different calendars. They are both the traditional wall calendar size that takes up about 11″x17″ of space on your wall when open. The difference is one calendar is of my past paintings that I’ve painfully selected, one for each month (seriously, it’s like picking a favorite child!). The other is a paint palette calendar that is of my painting palette containing the paints I used to create paintings. You can see what I see as I paint in my studio. They’re like little works of art in themselves.

I think the palette calendar is a fun, creative and unique take on contemporary art. The palettes look like abstract paintings to me. While the paintings calendar is fun and colorful and sets a vibe for the month starting with a little fox curled up in the snow for January. Whichever you decide is your favorite, they will both add a happy and modern looking splash of happy color to your space.

These exclusive art calendars will elevate your space, make you feel good each time you look at it and show off your good taste. You can rest assure that not many will have the same art calendar that you do as these are only available through me.
